Bobby Ray Woodard was born on August 11, 1959, in Cedar Lake, Texas, to Juanita Murphy and Kenneth Woodard Sr. He was the tenth child born to this union. He peacefully passed away on February 3, 2026, at 1:44 p.m., at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas, surrounded by his children and loved ones.
Bobby attended public school in the Van Vleck community and graduated from Van Vleck High School in 1978. He was well known for his love of dancing, his jokes, and his ability to make everyone laugh. His joyful spirit and sense of humor made him a familiar and beloved presence in the Cedar Lake and Sargent community.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Juanita Murphy and Kenneth Woodard Sr.; his brothers, Clyde Murphy Jr., Moses Woodard, and Woodrow Murphy, Sr.; and his sister, Lucinda Jackson.
He leaves to cherish his memory his two daughters, LaToria Johnson (Brandon) and Akela Woodard-Mardis (Wendell); five grandchildren—Zada Brown, Daylen Nicholas, Zane Johnson, Kharleigh Carmouche, and Zacc Johnson; and his living siblings:
Brothers: Kenneth Woodard Sr. (Barbara Ann), Marshall Murphy (Anita), Robert Lee Murphy (Mamie) and Lonnie Woodard (Loris)
Sisters: Betty Stevenson, Cynthia Townsend, Shirley Stredick, and Rita Murphy;
his special friend, Edva Smith; along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
